Sculptor, Ceramicist & Jewellery Maker

For as long as I can remember, I have made things. My joy is to create something from nothing. In the studio there is always work in progress or an idea brewing that inspires and captures my imagination. This manifests over time in some shape or form, whether it be for a commission, exhibition, gallery or my own pleasure.

I am a multi-disciplinary artist inspired by the beauty of nature, from the micro to the macro. Bright colours, curves, lines, organic forms, pattern and texture, often feature in the art I create. An interest in ancient wisdom and symbols are recurring themes I have explored in my work. Sometimes a concept can take years to evolve, refine and complete.

My sculpture has always been an intuitive process where I capture a mood or a memory in three dimension - in bronze, clay, plaster or stone. It can be cathartic and is a dynamic exchange of my feelings embodied into abstract tactile forms. For me, sculpture has not only to be an aesthetically pleasing object, but also an artwork created to resonate with the viewer.

Every necklace set I make is unique, the design evolves because I am instinctively drawn to particular crystals and semi-precious stones. My Antique Ethnic Silver jewellery is created in meditation, starting with a meaningful centre piece, then counting and threading multi-coloured stones and silver amulets until it grows into something beautiful to wear.

Creating hand made ceramic artworks that are functional and decorative, using all my senses and skills, is very rewarding. I love the elemental tactile process of working and shaping clay, it is a yielding and versatile medium. The challenge of firing, painting and glazing, and the excitement of discovering how the pieces look when first opening the kiln, is always thrilling.

Art is my passion. I believe that art is good for you, and creating art is even better.
